Summer 2022 Schedule
The 2022 ROSE Program ran from Monday, June 6 through Friday, July 8, 2022. In addition to conducting full-time research in host PI labs, Scholars participated in the following schedule of events:
June 6 – Residence Hall check-in; welcome reception at Draft and Table, UNM Student Union Building ("SUB")
June 7 – Welcome breakfast, introductions, and program kickoff; safety training, Physics and Interdisciplinary Science Building (PAÍS), 2120
June 10 – Molecular Visualization Software Workshop. He group, PAÍS 2120
June 30 – Virtual Reality Simulation Workshop, He group, PAÍS 2180
Weekly Activities for Scholars and PIs:
Coffee@Chemistry – Tuesdays 10-11 AM, Clark Hall 105 and outdoor patio (coffee+donuts)
Lunch at University Club – Fridays 11:30 AM - 1:00 PM, University Club and patio
Panel discussions– Fridays 1:00 - 2:00 PM, Clark Hall 201
June 17 – Panel discussion on applying to and matriculating at UNM, including questions about financial aid, with VP for Enrollment Management Dan Garcia, Associate Provost Prof. Pamela Cheek, and Jose Villar, Senior Program Manager, UNM College Enrichment Program
June 24 – Panel discussion with UNM Introductory Chemistry instructors Dr. Joseph Ho (Lab Director) and Dr. Sushilla Knottenbelt (Director of the BA/MD Program)
July 1 – Facilitated group discussion on post-Program activities and community-building; special guest Jacqueline Costales, Ed.S., NM Public Education Department Deputy Secretary of Teaching, Learning, and Assessment
July 8 – Farewell lunch for Scholars and PIs; research poster session; convocation and presentations with ROSE co-directors; Shafiq Chaudhary, Director, Math and Science Bureau, NM Public Education Department; Prof. Arash Mafi, Dean of the UNM College of Arts and Sciences; and Ellen Loehman and Deb Thrall, NM Science Teachers Association (NMSTA), PAÍS 2120
